Finding Subjects

These sketches were done in on a lazy afternoon in the park. You could also find subjects in a cafe or bookstore. Sometimes it’s just a matter of hitting the bricks and seeing what’s out there. Walk around the downtown area of any city and you’ll eventually come across something unusual. A bar or pub will work as well, (though you may have a few too many drunken art critics). You might get results from a library, especially around exam time when lots of students have to sit reading for hours. Lectures or public meetings will get you a very captive subject—the presenter. Or if you can sit backstage, even better— you have the audience as a giant captive subject.
